In 1983 this 2nd version of the Standard Stratocaster (after the Dan Smith) was developed to cut costs. So the jack input was mounted on the one layer pickguard and it only had two knobs (hence the nickname “Two Knob”). It also had the then new Freeflyte tremelo system that is installed in the body cavity instead of through and through like with the synchronized trem system on classic Strats. Although this version was only made for 1,5 years, between June 1983 and January 1985 and discontinued when Fender moved from the Fullerton factory to the Corona factory. It’s successor, the American Standard was a huge success starting in 1987.

This early model from 1983 has been used! It has bucklerash, dents, scratches and two big chips on the bottom. You could say it has been nicely reliced! The ivory color has aged to a nice butterscotch-like color. The guitar plays and sounds great. So this is an excellent chance to own a vintage, 40 year old guitar for a reasonable price.
